I have an adaptec scsi, and the scanner cable. According to the description, the issue seems to be related to Windows 7. So, rather than using a compromised setup trying to use XP on a separate machine, trying to use a machine with Vista on it insteadI’d just follow the instructions on the page 290 Russell linked to. But that doesn’t mean older, bit drivers definitely won’t work, does it?

You then install as normal, requesting to select the driver yourself, instead of Windows and you’re done.
